Sorcha Cribben-Merrill composes stirring folk-blues-soul music that she sings in a sultry, jazzy voice of unexpected power. From haunting ballads to funk grooves, her songs unveil “a suite of musical styles that shows a wide-ranging songwriting ability. . . witty verses with smart rhymes.” (Portland Phoenix)
Sorcha tours nationally solo and as a duo, and regionally with her band ‘Sorcha & The Clearing.’ She is at home performing on an acoustic stage, at a roots festival, on a sail boat or in a rock club.
She was selected as an Emerging Artist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (2012) and has sung her original songs with The Fogcutters, a contemporary big band from Maine. She has shared the stage with Tab Benoit, Tom Rush and the late Bill Morrissey and has performed at Caffe Lena (Saratoga Springs, NY), Club Passim (Cambridge, MA), Stone Mountain Arts Center (Brownfield, ME) and The State Theater (Portland, ME).
