Thanks to Gravity is known as one of the quintessential indie rock bands of the ‘90’s Northeast music scene. Formed at the University of New Hampshire in 1990, they toured relentlessly around the United States, released several independent albums and developed a cult following prior to signing a multi-record contract with Capitol Records in 1996.
They were the first artist in their local scene to release an album in compact disc format in 1991 and quickly established themselves as trendsetters by pushing their music to college radio and developing a grass roots following. They constantly pushed the boundaries of their genre and established a unique and particular sound. The music is eclectic and rich with harmonic textures supporting songwriter Andy Happel’s abstract and clever lyrics. Featuring non-conventional instrumentation of violin, guitar, keyboards, bass and drums the repertoire crosses genres of progressive rock, classical, baroque, riff-rock, and indie-alternative. Their frenetic live performance coupled with musical sophistication and music prowess appeals to a wide range of music aficionados and does not disappoint.
